Here are four essential tips for selecting new replacement tires for your forklifts
Tip 1 — Don’t Buy the Wrong Tire
There are many different types of forklift tires, including pneumatic tires, solid rubber tires, polyurethane tires, and more. Each tire type has specific properties that make it the right choice for certain types of forklifts.
For example, pneumatic tires are air-filled, like the tires found on trucks and cars. Typically, they are found on forklifts that are used mostly outdoors or for rough terrain applications.
When choosing new replacement tires for your forklift, it’s usually a good idea to get the same type as already are mounted on your vehicle. You probably don’t want to try a different type of forklift tire because it might not be ideal for your forklift type.
Tip 2 — Get the Right Size Tire
If you buy replacement forklift tires that are too large or too small, they aren’t going to work on your forklift, at least not efficiently.
Make sure you buy the size of forklift replacement tire that the vehicle’s manufacturer recommends for your specific model. If you aren’t sure of the tire size, just take the size off the tires you need to replace, consult the owner’s manual, or contact the company that sold or leased you the forklift in the first place.
Tip 3 — Consider Aftermarket Forklift Tires
Buying new tires will ensure they are factory fresh, but you may be able to save some money while still getting the forklift replacement tires you need by purchasing aftermarket — or used — tires.
Forklift tires are designed to last a specific number of driving hours. In some instances, there are aftermarket tires available that still have a lot of use left in them. As long as they are in good condition, you may be able to get the replacement forklift tires you need at a fraction of the cost.
Tip 4 — Non-Marking Tires
Some indoor warehouse applications prefer non-marking tires that won’t leave skid marks or tire trails on floors and pathways. Be aware that non-marking tires generally have a lower life expectancy than standard forklift tires. This is especially important if you are buying aftermarket tires.
Getting the right forklift replacement tires can make your vehicle last longer, work harder, and improve your warehouse or dock productivity. Choose from the many forklift replacement tires at Forklift Accessories.com.
