Onboard Caddy Helps Forklift Drivers Stay Productive

Forklift operators typically use a lot of tools besides their forklift truck. They may need box cutters, scissors, radios, and even hand tools like screwdrivers, hammers, or pliers.

Forklift drivers also are some of the busiest workers in any warehouse, dock, or other operation. So when they need access to a tool, they don’t usually have time to stop what they are doing, park and turn off their vehicle, then go hunt down the tool in question.

The tools they need all the time should constantly accessible so they can remain as productive as possible. Wasting time to go hunt for something isn’t an option for most busy forklift drivers.

The Problem with Forklift Storage

The problem, however, is that forklift cabs aren’t the most spacious of places. The floor is barely enough for the driver’s boots and the operating pedals. Plus, loose tools are likely to slide around and even fly out of the forklift cab every time the vehicle moves or turns a corner.

Carrying the required tools in the driver’s pockets or on a utility belt also isn’t a great option. If the driver is wearing the vehicle’s seat belt as required then accessing the right tool is still going to take critical time away from the task at hand. And in busy operations, every second counts.

Space Saving Onboard Tool Caddy

The solution is inspired by an unlikely source: The golf course.

Golfers use more than one type of golf club during any given round. Long drives require a driver. Middle-distant shots need an iron. And putts require a putter. Then there are all the tees, spare golf balls, drying towels, and other things that are needed to play a round of golf. The solution is the golf bag, which easily carries everything the golfer needs to play their best round.

Now forklift operators have something similar for all the tools they require to have their most productive shift: An onboard forklift tool caddy.

Forklift tool caddies come in a variety of sizes and shapes but they all work pretty much the same. They are securely anchored to the forklift chassis and are large enough to accommodate all of the specialized tools the driver needs to perform their job with maximum efficiency. Anything they need is easily within reach, eliminating the downtime required to hunt down tools.

Stop wasting time hunting for the tools you need. Instead, carry them with you all the time with an efficient, convenient forklift tool caddy.
